I know I am late on posting life is VERY busy. I had a really awesome time at the Bench Press Nationals. I got see many friends and meet many more. I enjoyed my lifting very much. i lifted raw and went three for three with all white lights and had my best bench this year at 331. I got to spend some time with Henry Gerard and Jason Beck what awesome guys. Henry nailed a huge 578 and gold medal in the 220 M 1 great job.
I wanted to give a big thank you to Ronny Bench. He was so helpful. First I was hoping to break out some shirt lifting, He brought to me in Stanardsville two shirts dropped them off to me. Gave me best wishes and said see you in Charlotte.
At the meet Adam Mamola and Big D need some help with shirts Ron was right helping getting the ready to lift. He encouraged just about everybody he ran into at the meet.
Then he went to score a gold medal on Sunday Great job.
My only problems was my old 1995 mustang was having some trouble with a 187,000 miles on it I nursed it home in the day light Sunday. I really wanted to watch the afternoon lifting.
I was so proud of our Virginia lifters who lifted at the meet and challenged for all the titles.
The Thompson's put on a great event I hope we can do the same hosting the 2010 Bench Nationals in Charlotte. The 2009 meet in Cleavland has Bill Gillespie featured on the poster!

John, You have given so much of yourself to the sport of powerlifting in Virginia that it is only right that the lifters of the Old Dominion lend you whatever help they can when you need it. I for one derive more pleasure from helping my friends, who are family to me, achieve their best results and have the most rewarding experience possible. When I walk into a meet and see you, I know there will always be a kind word and helpful advice forth coming. You make everyone that knows you feel special and a part of whatever is going on.
Thanks, "ronnybench"
