10-01-07 Squats-(bwt 323.8) Its that time of month when I witch back to day work again. Had about three and a half hours sleep after I got off this morning. I'm working day work tomorrow so I cut the work out shot.
Sit up 65
Raw (just a belt & Knee Sleeves) The 455 is a PR for my work sets 275x10 365x8 455x5 455x5 455x5 455x5 575x1 Well my spotters tell me I went down searching for the bottom. They gave me parallel by the skin of my teeth for the squat. It took everything I had to get back up.
Add 5lbs on next squat day 10-6-07
Ron Beuch had an outstanding PR raw squat at 365lbs today.........Wow, it looked great

Raw (just a belt) all 7 sets were done in 20 min. 225 x10 last 1 pause 275x10 last 1 pause 335x5 last 1 pause 335x3 335x4 335x3 365x3 Didn't get all 4sets of 5reps so the next bench day will be the same 10-11-07

10-07-07 Squats-(bwt 323.8) Going into todays workout I have some concern about how my left shoulder would hold up. After Fridays bench workout the shoulder got real sore around the base of my neck. I guess I pulled something two weeks ago rushing through my shrugs. I had a lot of discomfort during my first 4 sets of squats and then it went away. But overall the squats and Deads went well. I have been going at it hard for about four months so I will be taking a road trip to PA. I will be lifting in the 2007 USA Powerlifting Garage Ink Invitational (Nov 3) just as a test day. This will give me enough time to load back up for the Arnold Sports Festival on Feb. 29, 2008.

Deads I figured the deads would do a number on my shoulder but it came through for me.

PS My lifting partner Ron Beuch hit a sweet 375lb for a single today. He is a strong old fart.

I may hit the Garage Ink myself depending the start time to the UVA Wake Forest game. If it is a night game I could make it time to bench and come back for the game. Good luck in training.

Jim, What are you doing for your shoulder in terms of therapy? I used to have problems with my left shoulder and I used ointments before I would lift. They would warm it up! (A good friend at RAW recommends Icy Hot and Mt. Dew!) Also, I spent more time working my lats and rear delts and less on my front. It seems to have worked because I haven't had no where near the pain I once had.
You might consider using a loose bench shirt for a few weeks too. I know to most raw lifters, this sounds like blasphemy. But it can be therapeutic too.
Good luck at Garage Ink! Niko and his folks are really great people!!! If I can, I'll be there too to watch the lifting.

Jim, The only time the shoulder gives a problem is when I get up under the bar to squat and the bench. It just the pushing backward on that shoulder. I've cut out my shoulder work to give it time. I think a few days off from lifting would fix it right up but thats not in the cards right now. I have also been doing ice for about 20 min. after each. That helps......Thanks for asking.................
