Flat Bench 20 x bar 10 x 135 5 x 225 3 x 275 315 335 365 385 My shoulder was hurting bad, probably from spray painting the interior of my smaller garage on Saturday. The ceiling is rafters and plywood so there was a lot of overhead work. Funny thing is that when I did the 385 it was my right side that trailed a little. and it was my left side that hurt. Go figure So, I took it easy tonigth since we will bench again on Friday up to openers for the meet in PA.

Training has been very unorganized since the PA meet. I am working on getting a bench program for shirt set up. I want to lift equipped at bench nationals this year.
I had a number of shirts in stock but because of my weight changes since 2010 none of them were big enough. I discovered that it was too late to get a new Katana because of the 6-8 week delivery time. So I got a couple of Furies in sizes I could work in.
I have had a couple of sessions on the smith machine in the shirts trying to get back in touch with the dynamics and the groove involved with shirtted lifting.
I am at the point now where I need to do some board work and some training on the flat bench in the shirt.
Right now my resources are Sid and my wife Pat. Pat helps me get into the shirt but she cant spot. Sid and I have had problems and differences lifting with shirts since day one. Sid's value as a raw training partner far out weighs any problems we might have lifting in shirts. However this still leaves me short of resources for safe training.
I may have to take the chance and lift with gym rats for spotters. I will see.

SHIRT DAY Thursday June 27,2013 Couldn't get Jim and Pat into Retro Gym, Tyler was on the desk and had a rule for everything we tried. Went to Josh Wherhman's Gym and he let us do a trial night. 10xBar 10x135 5x225 5x275 5x315 365 Pat helped me get into the shirt (54 Fury) 425 3,2,1 board pyramid 455 3 board 455 2 board 455 1 board 455 no board (buried) worn out Felt good about the work out. I was able to handle the weight and lock it out except the last time. The shirt was about half. I need to drop down to the 52 break it in and hold it for the meet. Then train with the 54.

Sid Pat and I met Jim Pope at Retro Fitness @ 1:00 pm for flat bench with shirt.
Warmed up with

put on shirt with Pat's help 455 buried
tightened up and tried again 455 buried
packed up and went to Pizza Hut.
decision made: I will lift raw at Bench Nationals
